July 2026: Responding to Crisis, Building Resilience

July was a difficult month for many vulnerable communities. Devastating floods, ongoing conflicts, and rising costs of essential goods placed even greater pressure on families already struggling to meet their basic needs.

At Projects for Humanity, we believe that difficult times call for greater compassion and action. Throughout July, with the support of our donors, volunteers, and well-wishers, we continued standing beside communities in need, responding to emergencies while advancing our long-term work in healthcare, clean water, education, nutrition, empowerment, and orphan care.

Standing With Families When the Floods Struck

One of the most urgent moments of July came when devastating floods swept through southeastern Bangladesh, destroying homes, livelihoods, and leaving families facing an uncertain future.

For many, the disaster meant losing almost everything overnight. One father shared his heartbreaking fear of not knowing where his children would sleep or what they would eat. His story reflected the reality of thousands of families affected by the floods.

More than 50 people, including women and children, lost their lives. In response, Projects for Humanity quickly mobilized emergency rescue, relief distribution, essential medicines, and post-flood assistance. With the immediate support of our donors, volunteers, and the Bangladesh American Society of Greater Houston (BASGH), we were able to reach more than 2,000 people with urgent assistance.

When families needed help, we stood with them.

Caring for Health and Wellbeing

Healthcare remained an important part of our work throughout the month. In July, five free medical camps provided essential healthcare services to 320 individuals from vulnerable communities.

The camps offered general checkups along with gynecology, eye care, and dental services, helping people access care that may otherwise have been out of reach.

Alongside healthcare, more than 14,000 nutritious meals were served to orphans and vulnerable individuals throughout July, supporting their health, strength, and overall wellbeing.

Bringing Safe Water to Communities

Access to safe drinking water continues to be one of our priorities. During July, four water plants produced more than 6,625 gallons of pure water, while 163 tube wells supplied more than 17,000 gallons.

Together, these initiatives helped provide pure drinking water to more than 4,800 people.

With two new water plants expanding access, our commitment to sustainable and reliable water solutions continues to grow.

Investing in Children and Education

At Champion Academy, our residential school for 90 students, July was another month of learning, development, and growth.

Students received support through academic activities, spoken English, music, debate, and Dars classes. They also participated in television programs, crafting activities, and a football tournament. Two new teachers joined the academy, while a dedicated Hifz reading room was established to further support students' learning.

Across our education initiatives, we also continued supporting underprivileged and orphan students through scholarships and educational opportunities.

Our work is not simply about helping children stay in school. It is about creating an environment where they can discover their potential and build a better future.

Caring for Orphans and Refugee Children

Our commitment to children extends beyond education.

Throughout July, 86 orphan children received comprehensive care across three centers, while refugee and host-community children continued receiving education, food, healthcare, and other essential support through our learning centers.

We also distributed seasonal mangoes among 220 Rohingya children, bringing nutritional support and a small moment of happiness to children living in difficult circumstances.

These moments remind us that humanitarian support is not only about meeting immediate needs. It is also about preserving dignity, creating hope, and reminding people that they are not forgotten.

Empowering Families for a Sustainable Future

Long-term change requires more than emergency assistance.

Through our sustainable livelihood initiatives, 688 families have now been empowered with income-generating opportunities, positively impacting more than 3,200 individuals.

By helping families build sustainable sources of income, we aim to create pathways toward greater independence, dignity, and resilience.

A New Way to Share: The Giving Wall

July also marked the beginning of a meaningful new initiative, the Giving Wall.

Inaugurated in the presence of our President, the initiative creates a simple space where people can leave usable items they no longer need, while others can take what they need.

One person's extra can become another person's essential.

It is a simple idea, but one that reflects something powerful: when communities share what they have, we can turn surplus into support and kindness into action.

A Step Forward for Clean Water

The Grundfos Clean Flow Project also reached another important milestone in July as the project trailer began its journey from China to the USA.

This shipment brings the project one step closer to implementation and reflects our continued commitment to developing sustainable solutions that can improve access to safe water for communities in need.

Looking Ahead

As July came to an end, the challenges facing vulnerable communities remained. But so did our commitment.

From emergency flood response to clean water, from healthcare and nutritious meals to education, orphan care, refugee assistance, and sustainable livelihoods, every initiative is part of a larger mission: to stand beside people in need and help build a more just, resilient, and hopeful future.
